Suicide Bomber Attacks Cow Market In Maiduguri

A bomb blast hit a popular market along Baga/
Monguno highway killing an unspecified
number of people on June 6, Saturday.
According to a security source the incident
happened around 4.10pm

“ The attack happened at a place called cow
market and many people are expected to be
involved because the market is usually busy, ”
he said.
According to NAN, the improvised explosive
device was detonated by a female suicide
bomber, killing her and two more people.
Four persons sustained injuries during the
attack.
However, hospital and military sources said
up to 16 people were dead, at least 24 injured.
“At about 4.30pm on Saturday they brought
casualties from the blast scene… 16 bodies
were deposited with 24 injured,” Lawal Kawu, a
paramedic at the teaching hospital in
Maiduguri, told Reuters.
Maiduguri, the biggest city in north-east
Nigeria, has been attacked many times over
the past six years.
The latest bombing at the Moru-Moru market
in the Gamboru area came days after the
newly elected President Muhammadu Buhari
declared he would relocate the military
headquarters from Abuja to Maiduguri.
Borno, Yobe and Adamawa are the Nigerian
states worst hit by the deadly Boko Haram
sect.
