Toke Makinwa finally reacts to marriage woes, acknowledges the situation

Below is what she shared on instagram this morning
'The amount of emails I have received from women across the world going thru difficult situations is heartbreaking. (Thank you all for sharing). In a world where the popular belief out there is that women hate each other, women can't stand each other, etc. I have gotten emails/calls from women sharing their own personal pain and that is courageous. I can't reply everyone, (even though i honestly wish i could.) It is Funny how God uses even the most unbelievable things to bless you. I have been given a voice, a platform, (i don't even know how it's all happened) but I woke up one day and I found God and with that came purpose. It's never about you, as hard as it seems, sometimes you go thru things not for you but for the people around you who need direction, a word of prayer or more. May God heal every broken heart out there, may his light give you the courage to begin to love yourself. It is tough being a woman, the preasure is real. You don't have to be a  victim, you can rise above it all. Do not let society tell you otherwise. Be Bold, Be Strong. Trust God's purpose for your life and keep shinning. *And Yes, to all the people asking, there is a Vlog this week *
Good Morning

Widow says pedicure killed her husband

A widow in suburban Chicago blames a nail salon for killing her husband in a pedicure-gone-wrong.

A lawsuit filed in Cook County Circuit Court alleges that Darryl Carr suffered a grisly infection that led to the amputation of his left leg and, ultimately, his death.

Carr's family says the AZ Happy Nails salon in Sauk Village soaked his feet in a chemical solution and then in a hot wax solution, but it alleges that the solutions were contaminated and that his left foot was left soaking for too long.

Carr suffered "serious burns" to his leg, which then became infected, says the lawsuit. It faults the salon for lax safety and training procedures, and for failing to test Carr for possible allergic reactions or warn him of any risks.

He visited the salon in November 2013 and died this month June 2015, leaving his wife and two kids, ages 10 and 13. His widow is seeking at least $50,000 in damages from the salon, which hasn't responded publicly.

Oyegun Should Resign - APC Chieftain

The ongoing crisis rocking the ruling party, All
Progressives Congress (APC), has taken a new
turn as one of the party’s National Working
Committee (NWC) member, Timi Frank has
called for the resignation of the party’s national
chairman, Chief John Odigie Oyegun.
APC National Chairman, John Oyegun
While speaking in Abuja yesterday, Frank
blamed the chairman and some members of
the APC’s NWC for the crisis that resulted
from the election of leaders of the National
Assembly.
According to The Sun, the NWC member said
that the chairman and leadership of the party
should resign having embarked on an
embarrassing mock election that never had
the blessings of the entire party’s leadership
which ridiculed the party.
Frank said that the leadership showed
incompetence to manage the National
Assembly issue until it blew out of hand as a
result of the interest manifested by the
chairman and few of his colleagues.
He said the situation is rather
unfortunate blaming the APC chairman, for
clearly failing to consult widely before
embarking on the mock election.
The APC chieftain said he is of the opinion
that if APC wants to rid itself of the mistakes
of PDP, it needed a chairman that would
shield himself from undue pressures no
matter where it emanated from.

He described the National Assembly election
as a good show of democracy adding
that Nigeria stood to be the overall
beneficiary.
Meanwhile the Senate president, Dr. Bukola
Saraki has started initiating peace moves
with the leadership of APC and his
colleagues, who are opposed to his victory.

Court Denies Fraudulent CBN Staff Bail

The accused persons are: Patience Okoro Eye,
Afolabi Olufemi Johnson, Ilori Adekunle
Sunday Kolawole Babalola, Olaniran Muniru
Adeola and Fatai Adedokun Yusuf.
Justice Nathaniel Ayo Emmanuel of the Federal
High Court today, 15th June dismissed the bail
application filed by six former staff of the Central
Bank of Nigeria (CBN)
The six accused who were once top officials of
the apex bank were arraigned on June 2 on a
28 count charge of fraud and stealing. They
were said to have conspired with some
private banks to defraud the country.
The judge adjourned the case till July 6 and 7
for trial.

Ex-President Jonathan To Be Immortalized In July

Two Nigerian authors seem to have found a
perfect way to keep ex-president Goodluck
Ebele Jonathan living forever. The duo who
teamed up shortly after the elections to carryout
this daunting task said they were undertaking
the project to applaud the former president’s
heroic feats.
Former president Goodluck Jonathan
By the 21st of July, a book in honour of
Jonathan’ will be released. The book is titled:
“The New Face of African Democracy.”
This project was executed by Mr Ayo George
and Dayo Taiwo both of who agree that the just
unseated president deserves a plethora of
accolades.
Mr. Jonathan’s ambition for a second tenure
in office was cut short at the presidential
polls by General Muhammadu Buhari the All
Progressive Congress (APC) candidate, but
that loss seem in no way to have done much of
a damage to his personality.
According to reports by Premium Times, Mr.
George told journalists in Lagos on Sunday that
he was super excited at the prospect of
releasing a book written about a former
president.
He said they had started writing the book
long before the elections, because they felt Dr.
Goodluck needed to be celebrated regardless if
he won or lost the elections. He added though,
that when president Jonathan lost, they felt a
greater need to complete the book. This Mr
George stated to make it categorically clear
that the book wasn’t meant to patronize Dr
Ebele Jonathan in the first place.
Mr George went on to say that Africa must
begin to write her own stories. He was of the
opinion that African children must read
about the great men of the black race; one of
such men being Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan.
“He is presently being suggested for the Nobel
Peace prize, and our plans for the promotion of
this book is part of that suggestion.” Mr George
added.
In agreement with all Mr Ayo George said, Mr.
Taiwo, the co-author further revealed that a
30-day countdown to the official release
would begin by the 22nd of June, and by July
21, the book would be released on various
platforms across the world. He added that the
30-day countdown was going to be very
exciting, involving a lot of social media
hype and razzmatazz all through the dates.
He didn’t forget to add that so much was up
their sleeves as regards giving the book a
firm presence especially across Africa,
arguing that regardless of the varied
opinions of Nigerians, the public would
generally agree that the former president
needs to be celebrated, hence the need to
release the book.
Goodluck Jonathan seems to have written his
name in gold, with the major role he played
in the peaceful transition after losing out in
the last election.
The former president has been lauded by the
local and foreign media for that historic
phone call that conceded defeat in the 2015
presidential elections.
To many, he has become an icon of peace and a
beacon of hope for a better future, not only for
Nigeria, but indeed Africa as a whole.

experienced on the campaign trail, she also
attributed all her success and achievements to
the support of the President who encouraged
her to go to school even while raising 5
children where she eventually got her
Master’s degree in International affairs and
Strategic studies from the Nigerian
Defence  Academy NDA.

Sexual Offences Bill: Soyinka Write Senators

Nobel laureate, Professor Wole Soyinka, has
added his voice to the growing opposition over
the sexual offences bill hurriedly passed by the
immediate past Senate of the 7th National
Assembly. He wrote a letter to the present set of
senators, which was published by PM news.
Read below:

Dear Friends and Comrades,
Regretfully, I am unable to be with you
tomorrow morning. However, I extend a
warm embrace to you in your resolve to keep
within Nigeria’s short memory the events
that have been central to the attainment of
our democracy – warts and all – enjoyed today
by you and me. June 12 remains the true
Democracy Day despite the unprincipled
efforts of some prime beneficiaries of that
struggle to expunge it from a people’s
chronicle.

If I had been able to join you, I would most
certainly have asked you for help. It has to do
with the nation’s latest alleged legislative
stance against sexual abuse – molestation,
rape, paedophilia etc etc. I am only a layman,
not a “learned brother”, so any help from the
learned is earnestly solicited. The question
on my mind is this: is that legislative
reinforcement not merely a case of rubbing
vaseline on leprosy?
In this supposedly progressive bill, sponsored
by the respected Senator Chris Anyanwu. I
could not help but notice a reiteration – as if
to ensure that there is no ambiguity – of the
word “child”, near superfluously. Well, we
understand “child” as defined in most
dictionaries. There is however also child as
defined by the Nigerian legislature. This
definition is contained in a prior Bill,
sponsored, no less, by a notorious serial
paedophile and cross-border sex trafficker,
yet lawmaker – one Ahmed Yerima.
Does Yerima’s Bill, gleefully assented to by
his peers, not simply vitiate this latter,
supposedly humane concern for the protection
of the child? Again, I confess to being only a
‘bloody layman’ in such matters. However,
reading both bills, it strikes me that all the
new bill does is empower the clique of
paedophiles. All you need do is “marry” even a
six-year old under any local laws, and do
whatever you want with her. Through
marriage, she is already an “adult” . Her
“defiler ” is now fully protected by this law. She
is not. The current Bill is the ancient story of
locking the stable door after the horse has
bolted. End of story? Yerimah and his fellow
perverts are having the last laugh.

This issue of child protection looms large all
over the world – including bills passed or
under debate. It is one that defines us in our
own estimation and in global view as worthy
to be counted among humanity, or as the
basest kind of living species that exist solely
for their sensual gratification, even at the
cost of the emotional and physiological well-
being of the weak and vulnerable of society.
Our lawmakers have betrayed our children.
This latest addition of insult to social injury
was tucked within a last-minute avalanche of
bills that were passed at lightning speed
during the tail-end of the last legislative
assemblage – 47 bills in under 3 hours – surely
one for the Guinness Book of Records. An
accident? Or by design? This bill, subjected
to wrong arguments, merely consolidates the
reduction of female minors to sex objects. As
long as you can afford a bag of rice or – as in
the case of cross-border tastes such as Ahmed
Yerima’s – ten thousand dollars, you are free
To Molest a child to death. This, surely cannot
pretend to represent the will of a people who
care. Once you re-define female adulthood as
marital status, all subsequent protection bills
for the girl-child are worthless, cynical.
Neither culture nor religion is at issue here.
It is, quite starkly, an issue of science, the
science of the human body, one that
demonstrably instructs us when the female
human body is still at risk from conjugal rites.
We should therefore call upon the Medical
Association to take the lead on this, a human
issue that affects all men and women of
conscience. A nation should not be founded on
the sexual exploitation of the fragile, and
innocent. The debate must remain open.
President Buhari – and here I make my first
imposition on his presidency – should never
place his assent on such a nefarious
distraction. Its implications doom the
victim to afflictions that churn the stomach
even to think of the human toll. Perhaps those
legislators think that vaginal fistula is
something thought up arm-chair critics with
nothing better to occupy their minds. No
matter, let those who profess a genuine
concern declare their stand on this. On my
part, I find unacceptable any effort to build a
nation on perversions that merely minister
to man’s sexual appetites. This is a sordid
appeasement of a minority who actually
require psychiatric help. President Buhari
should not give his assent to the Bill without
amendments that address the earlier Yerima
gift to the nation. It’s a trap!
Let us learn from the heroes of June 12. Few
people have done more for the cause of
liberation than the Hero of this day.
M.K.O.Abiola was an open polygamist. None
of his wives was ever found to be below the
only age of consent that is now needlessly
under contention – the scientific. We cannot
substitute science and observation for any
spurious alibis that sacrifice the child to
private lust!
The debate must remain open until resolved
in favour of the child.
Soyinka recently urged the Buhari
administration to adopt a new strategy in
the war against the Boko Haram insurgency
and terrorism in general, in order to achieve
results.

How Ogogoro Is Produced In Nigeria (PHOTOS)

The mysterious deaths caused by ogogoro
consumption in Rivers state make the top
headlines of Nigerian dailies but few know the
process involved in making the local gin.
Ogogoro is called  Sapele water, Kparaga, kai-
kai, Sun gbalaja, Egun inu igo meaning The
Masquerade in the Bottle and much more in
different local languages.

A CNN reporter, Christian Purefoy, went to a
distilling factory on the outskirts of Lagos
and captured live pictures of the process of
producing local gin.
The process of making ogogoro is simple and
illegal says Purefoy. The reporter met with a
young lad named Gabriel who described the
process of making the local gin.
The main ingredient is the palm sap which
he has to climb a palm tree to get. A bucket is
then filled with palm sap and drowned fruit
flies.
After extracting the sap, Gabriel replaces the
full bucket with an empty one and climbs
down the tree.
Christain Purefoy at the distillery
The extracted sap is first mixed with sugar
and left to ferment for seven days in sealed
blue barrels.

Gabriel then places rusted oil drums over a
hot fire and the fermented alcohol poured in.

he next stage is to allow the alcohol
evaporate and then allow to condense by
passing it down small pipes through a vat of
cold water then it drips out into a bucket
where it is now refined as ogogoro or kai
kai.
Purefoy says Gabriel and his friends tell him
that he can make up to 400 liters of gin a day.
He says it from here that market women come
with their kegs and drums to buy so they can
sell to others.

Meanwhile, the Federal Government has
banned the consumption of ogogoro.
The FG was forced to ban the local gin after
reports surfaced of the deaths of quite a
number of people after consuming the
alcoholic drink.

Monguno highway killing an unspecified

happened around 4.10pm

“ The attack happened at a place called cow
market and many people are expected to be

he said.
According to NAN, the improvised explosive
device was detonated by a female suicide
bomber, killing her and two more people.
Four persons sustained injuries during the

However, hospital and military sources said
up to 16 people were dead, at least 24 injured.
“At about 4.30pm on Saturday they brought

were deposited with 24 injured,” Lawal Kawu, a
paramedic at the teaching hospital in
Maiduguri, told Reuters.
Maiduguri, the biggest city in north-east
Nigeria, has been attacked many times over
the past six years.
The latest bombing at the Moru-Moru market
in the Gamboru area came days after the
newly elected President Muhammadu Buhari
declared he would relocate the military
headquarters from Abuja to Maiduguri.
Borno, Yobe and Adamawa are the Nigerian
states worst hit by the deadly Boko Haram
sect.

Twin Suicide Attacks Hit Potiskum, 10 Feared Dead (PICS)

Reports just reaching us indicate that two
explosions in Potiskum, Yobe State have
claimed the lives of 10 people, causing serious
injuries to eight.

It was gathered that vigilantes and security
agents were reportedly killed in the
explosion this afternoon.
According to Presstv.com, the separate blasts
took place on Monday. The attacker, who had
been arrested after being suspected of theft,
killed eight vigilantes after detonating his
explosives.

The other blast killed two more people
outside a bar.
However, speaking to This Day, an
eyewitness said that the suicide bomber
gained access to the office and detonated the
Improvised Explosive Devices (IED) killing
eight people on the spot including himself.
The eyewitness (Isa) said: ”A young man came
to our office and we insisted that anybody that
we would allow to enter must be searched and
when he pretended to be opening the bag, he
detonated an explosive device.”
Isa added that the explosion killed one of the
commanders of the vigilante group in the
town.
He said: “When everyone was still shell-
shocked by the attack, another explosion
happened five minutes later at a drinking joint in
the same vicinity.”
According to him, three persons including
the bomber were killed in the explosion.
He said the bomber walked into the
drinking joint, pretending to want a drink
and detonated the explosive device strapped
on him.

outfit said that at the General Hospital,
Potiskum, eleven corpses were deposited at
their morgue.

South-East Has No Regrets Voting For PDP - Ekweremadu

Ike Ekweremadu, the newly elected deputy
Senate president, has said the people of the
south-east geopolitical zone do not regret giving
their votes to the Peoples Democratic Party
(PDP) in the last general election.

According to Ekweremadu, the people would
vote in the same manner even if another
opportunity was given.
“We have no regret; Igbos have no regret for the
way they voted; if they have the opportunity
tomorrow, they will do it again. We are
convinced we voted rightly, and because we
believe we are part and parcel of this country,
we believe what we got is within our right.
“So we expect that APC should be able to
accommodate the people of South-South as they
form their government, because don’t forget that
Buhari got about 15 million votes; we have more
than 150 million Nigerians, so he is not the
president of 15 million people; the rest of the
people must be accommodated,” he said at
Akanu Ibiam international Airport Enugu on
Saturday.
Ekweremadu stated that he decided to take
another shot at the position of deputy Senate
president when it appeared the people of the
south-east were being marginalised with
the south-south in the scheme of things. “We
decided to take a shot so that our people will be
part and parcel of government so that every part
of Nigeria will have a sense of belonging.”
The deputy Senate president who is also the
speaker of the ECOWAS parliament urged
fellow senators and all political office holders
to settle down for business to deliver the
dividends of democracy to Nigerians as the
days of politics were over.
He advised the administration of President
Muhamadu Buhari under the All Progressives
Congress (APC) to try to accommodate all
Nigerians irrespective of party and ethnic
inclination.

Muhammadu Buhari President may sack all top military officers to appoint his "loyalists"

It is speculated that the President probably will appoint his “loyalists” and those he had worked with into top positions.

Muhammadu Buhariplay
Muhammadu Buhari
Report says President Muhammadu Buhari may lay off service chiefs and other senior officers across the various arms of the Nigerian military.
Punch report suggests that the President will disengage all the military chiefs, except one.
It said he will appoint new officers who are also experienced officers and are expected to implement the new phase of the war against the Boko Haram sect in the North-East.
It was gathered that there is apprehension in the military over imminent shake-up, which sources say will affect the Army, Navy, and the Air Force.
It is speculated that the President will appoint his “loyalists” and those he had worked with into top positions.
According to multiple sources, Buhari plans to cut off the Department of State Services from the Presidential Villa.
A source said the President is not happy with the agency because of the “various negative security reports it wrote against him during his struggle to become the President, including the report on the recent certificate saga.”
The source told Punch, “The President has yet to forgive the DSS for what he sees as its antagonism against him before the last general elections. So, the President has decided to keep the agency at arm’s length and for his security, he will be using policemen and soldiers.
“The CSO will be a mere figure-head because he would have no control over the security at the villa.”
Further findings showed that since Buhari was sworn in, information about his itinerary and schedules were no longer passed to the DSS as is the tradition under Goodluck Jonathan administration.
