The Supreme Court today affirmed the August
9th 2014 election of Governor Rauf Aregbesola of
Osun state. The state PDP Governorship
candidate Senator Iyiola Omisore had
approached the apex court to vacate the previous
ruling of the Court of Appeal and the Osun state
Election Tribunal that had upheld the election
of Aregbesola. Omisore asked the court to declare
him winner of the election, accusing Mr
Aregbesola and his party, APC of engaging in
electoral malpractice during the election.
A seven man panel of judges in the Supreme court
led by Justice John Fabiyi, ruled that
Aregbesola was dully elected and is not found
guilty of any election malpractice.
